It’s the last days of spring and the weather is quickly warming up here in Southern California. We had temperatures in the high eighties and I’m going to have to pack away my sweaters soon. If I could spend all day in sweaters, I would. I just find them to be so comfortable and I wanted to show with this look that it’s possible to dress up a plain sweater.
I got this grey cashmere sweater during Black Friday and it was such a steal. I always had a dream of owning a cashmere sweater someday because you know – it seemed like such a grown up thing. I waited till Black Friday and I had bookmarked a few cashmere sweaters before hand to see which one would be the cheapest.
This sweater is unbelievably soft. So soft that I ended up buying a black button down cashmere cardigan from the same brand. I know for sure that I’ll be picking up the same sweater in a few other colors during the next Black Friday!
If I had to pick my favorite piece of jewelry that I bought for myself, it would be this blue necklace. I got this as an impulse buy nearly a decade ago. If I remember correctly, it was ridiculously cheap and I didn’t expect for it to hold together this long. I love everything about this necklace – the gold details, blue beads, and especially the silk at the back. I’ve searched for something similar to this for years, but sadly – it hasn’t happened. That doesn’t mean I’ve given up though.

Spring can’t come soon enough for me. If you couldn’t tell from my previous post, I absolutely adore spring. Summers for me are blistering hot days filled with heat waves and a general sense of discomfort. But spring … spring is magical. It’s when I can still wear some pieces from my winter wardrobe on some days and maxi dresses on other days. I just love all the skirts and dresses spring entails.
Also, I love the bright colors spring brings. I’m someone who tries to get away with a brighter color wheel during winter since we live in a warmer area year round. I adore shades of pink and soft blues for the spring time. There are some prints (floral or brightly patterned) that are my all time must haves for spring.
I’m a short girl (5’2″ to be exact) and I love a good heel. But there are days when I know I’ll be on my feet all day and there’s no way I would willingly wear a three inch heel on those days. I love wearing a cute pair of flats like these ones when I know I have a lot of errands to do. These shoes are so comfy and I love the rockstud details. These flats are a knockoff of a very famous brand and I paid a little over ten bucks for them (such a steal)!
This blouse is so versatile. I last wore it on Valentine’s Day and featured it in XOXO. I paired it with a printed pant for a more work appropriate outfit. The very soft pastel pink brings a softer effect to the entire look. I love pairing this top with different bottoms and especially with different pieces of jewelry. It’s become a staple in my outfit as a basic pieces.

There’s two more weeks till it’s officially spring. But it looks like no one’s informed my older sister or these trees. We both love this orchard and the meadows too. There is an odd juxtaposition in this week’s outfit though. My outfit is very appropriate for school and very similar to my usual winter to spring transition outfits. I love mixing my warmer clothes and slowly bringing in a lighter style through hairstyles and makeup choices.
This wool blend grey top is deceptively heavy. It photographs as a very light and free material, but in reality … it’s a very thick and warm material. My sister bought this in the winter of 2009. Yes, it is eight years old now! We weren’t joking when we said we rarely throw away clothes.
I pair it with a long sleeve shirt during the really cold days, but just the top alone was more than warm enough for me on this day. It’s a nice warm material – sort of like a cute blanket. I really do feel all wrapped up in this top!
I’ve had these black booties on repeat now. I’m trying to get as much use out of them as possible before it’s too warm to wear them out. I know I’ll try to incorporate them into some night time summer outfits when it’s cool enough to pair them with a light cotton dress. Even though I have a special place in my heart for sandals, booties are admittedly my favorite style of shoes.

It’s always been a dream of mine to own a really great faux leather jacket. Other than the horrible polyester-ish leather jacket I had as a teen, there was nothing close to a great one in my closet. I knew as soon as I saw this tan one during the annual ModCloth sale that I had to have it.
This jacket was thick enough to keep me warm on a very (California) cold day. The gold detailing is perfectly offset by the detachable multi-print hoodie. I love the fact that this jacket can be worn one of three ways: completely unzipped, completely zipped, or half open with the collars folded down.
I didn’t want to overwhelm this outfit with unnecessary jewelry so I stuck to just a statement ring. Also, you might recognize these booties! They’re my little sisters and I ‘borrowed’ them for the outfit.
